Mumbai, Jul 21 (PTI) Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Yogesh Kadam on Monday said he will bring a privilege notice against Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab for levelling baseless charges against him and linking him to a "dance bar", which are banned in the state.
Addressing a news conference, Kadam also said he will write to the chairman of the legislative council against Parab for making false remarks against him when he was not even present in the House, which is contrary to the rules and that it be removed from the records.
Last week, Parab had alleged that a "dance bar" in Mumbai had permit in the name of Kadam's mother, a charge rejected as baseless by the minister.
Parab had alleged this conflict was of interest as the minister cannot have business interest in a department he is a part of.
On May 30, police raided 'Saavali' bar in Mumbai's Kandivali area and apprehended 22 bar dancers, 22 customers and four staff members, Parab had alleged in the state legislative council.
Parab also alleged Kadam diverted "sand" from Jagbudi river in Ratnagiri, his home district, to a dental college linked to his family when the construction material was meant to be given to farmers.
The dental college, where Kadam allegedly diverted sand from Jagbudi river, is named after the minister's sister and he was also a director of the educational institute, claimed the Shiv Sena (UBT) legislator.
"I am nowhere linked to all the matters raised by Parab," Kadam said.
"I am also going to move a breach of privilege complaint against Anil Parab," Kadam added.
The minister said it was he who had directed the police to crack down on dance bars.
Had he abused his power as a minister of state in the Home department, he would have asked the police not to take action against the bar, Kadam contended.
Kadam also said the silt removed from the Jagbudi river is not sand and cannot be used for construction purpose.
He ceased to have any position in the dental institute a year back, Kadam said.
