Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jul 9 (PTI) A policeman from Maharashtra’s Beed district who was suspended for his alleged role in a theft case has now been arrested for stealing motorcycles, an official has said.
Assistant sub-inspector Amit Madhukar Sutar was earlier posted in the wireless section of the police department in 2024, the official said on Tuesday.
“Sutar was addicted to online gaming and had run up huge debts. To pay off his loans, he stole batteries from his workplace, following which the seniors suspended him,” said the police official.
The police recently received inputs that two persons were coming to the Barshi Naka area of Beed to sell a stolen motorcycle.
“We nabbed the duo with a two-wheeler. They told the police that the Sutar had stolen the vehicle. We have found out that Sutar has stolen at least seven motorcycles. He has been arrested,” said inspector Shivaji Bantewad of the Beed crime branch.
