Case registered against Sena UBT worker over hoarding

Pune, Jun 26 (PTI) A case of defacement of public property ' was registered here on Thursday against a Shiv Sena (UBT) worker for allegedly putting up hoardings taking potshots at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni. <br>Kulkarni had on Monday demanded that the Pune Railway Station be renamed asThorle Bajirao Peshwa Pune Railway Station', which was opposed by Shiv Sena (UBT), Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and some other organisations.
Some local leaders also demanded that the railway station be named for social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, or Rajmata Jijau, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's mother.
Local Sena (UBT) office-bearer Girish Gaikwad allegedly put up hoardings which mentioned Kulkarni and carried her caricature besides a message which was seen as objectionable.
"We received complaints from several organisations, and after reviewing the content of the hoarding, a case was registered against the office-bearer who had installed it under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1955, and Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, 1949," said an official of Deccan police station.
No arrest has been made in the case.
