Bhadohi (UP), Jun 23 (PTI) Four people have been booked for abetment to suicide after a 21-year-old woman hanged herself at her home here, police said on Monday.
The FIR comes following a court order based on allegations of sexual exploitation and blackmail.
According to officials, the case was registered on June 20 at the City Kotwali police station against the main accused Kaleem, his brother Haleem, father Saleem, and mother Sitara. The FIR was lodged under relevant sections following directions from Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar Mishra.
Inspector Sachidanand Pandey said the woman's brother, Shahenshah, from Doodwa Dharampuri Colony, had filed a petition in the court on April 3, stating that his sister had died by suicide on March 26, 2025, by hanging herself at home.
In the complaint, he alleged that Kaleem, a relative, lured his sister with the promise of marriage, developed a physical relationship with her, secretly recorded obscene videos, and blackmailed her for four months.
When he eventually refused to marry her, she hanged herself.
All four accused are currently absconding, and further legal investigation is underway, police said.
