Rain lash several parts of Rajasthan Jaisalmer hottest at 44.6 deg C

     Jaipur, Jun 19 (PTI) Several parts of Rajasthan were lashed by rain on Thursday with Karauli recording the highest rainfall of 36.5 mm, a MeT department spokesperson said.
     Till 5.30 pm on Thursday, Ajmer recorded 18.2 mm of rainfall, Pratapgarh 5.5 mm and Kota 4.6 mm.
     Meanwhile, hot weather conditions persisted in some areas on Thursday with Jaisalmer recording the highest maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius followed by 42.3 degrees in Sriganganagar and 42.2 degrees each in Phalodi and Barmer, the spokesperson said.
     In the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Thursday, Bharatpur tehsil recorded the highest rainfall of 85.0 mm followed by 60 mm in Deeg and 50 mm each in Tatgarh (Ajmer), Sahada (Bhilwara), Nagar (Bharatpur), Pipalkhunth (Pratapgarh), Railmagra (Rajsamand), Nainwa (Bundi), Asind (Bhilwara) and Kumher (Bharatpur).
     According to the MeT department, there is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Kota division and surrounding districts, and rain in some parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur divisions on June 19 and 20.
     Rain accompanied by thunderstorms are likely at sporadic places in eastern parts except the border areas of Jodhpur, Bikaner division, it said.
     On June 21, thunder and rain are likely to continue in some parts of eastern Rajasthan and on June 22-23, there is a possibility of heavy rain again at some places in Bharatpur, Kota division.
