Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), May 29 (PTI) TDP supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that his party was born to change people's lives.
Addressing a public meeting on the last day of the three-day annual conclave of the party, TDP Mahanadu, Naidu said he is emboldened by seeing the large turnout of party supporters.
According to the TDP chief, Mahanadu was organised in Kadapa, considered the bastion of the YSR family, to prove that this place is the stronghold of the TDP.
Naidu highlighted that the Rayalaseema region blessed the NDA with 45 out of 52 Assembly seats in the 2024 polls.
He also said TDP is a case study on how to run a government and political party, while YSRCP is an example of how not to.
Naidu alleged that the previous YSRCP government was fraught with atrocities, murders, abuses and oppression, asserting that the southern state's development was reversed by 30 years during that regime.
Further, Naidu said that the state has a debt of Rs10 lakh crore and has been paying Rs 40,000 crore annually in interest. However, by 2029, the CM promised to achieve "zero poverty" and provide housing for all.
Laying great emphasis on the Rayalaseema region of the state, Naidu gave several assurances to complete pending projects in this region to turn it into a crown jewel for Andhra Pradesh.
He promised to complete the construction of Haj House in Kadapa within six months and vowed to take the responsibility of setting up a High Court bench in Kurnool.
As June 12 will mark one year since the formation of the TDP-led NDA government, Naidu assured that work on the Kadapa steel plant will begin before that, entailing a first phase investment of Rs 4,500 crore.
Likewise, he promised to turn Gandikota, a grand canyon-like geographical attraction, into the best tourism spot, along with the erection of medieval king Sri Krishna Devaraya's statue.
Calling the youth of the state his strength, the four-time chief minister said he is putting his hopes on them and promised to bring them up.
He termed the six key resolutions introduced during the Mahanadu as historic, promising to work for a wealthy, healthy and happy Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu said on June 21, five lakh people will participate in yoga sessions at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam to commemorate the International Yoga Day, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the CM, two crore people will partake in yoga on June 21 across the state while 20 lakh enthusiasts will also receive certificates.
Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, he said terrorists killed 26 innocent people, but PM Modi launched Operation Sindoor, entered Pakistan and "eliminated them (terrorists) in 20 minutes".
Underscoring that a large turnout for the public meeting gave him boldness, Naidu culminated the three-day Mahanadu by thanking them for approving his work and ended his address with chants of 'Jai TDP' and 'NTR Amar Rahe'.
TDP was founded by former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and legendary actor NT Rama Rao (NTR) in 1982.
Earlier, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh addressed the meeting and emphasised that Naidu is continuing NTR's legacy with a global vision.
Asserting that TDP leaders are not followers but trendsetters, Lokesh said Naidu is the global face of the Telugu people, who is placing Andhra Pradesh on the world map with pride.
