    * SC raps the Uttar Pradesh government for "hijacking" the litigation between two private parties over management of the famous Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.
        
     SC sought responses from the Centre and others on a petition challenging the constitutional validity of certain provisions of the Waqf Act, 1995.

     SC refused to entertain a plea challenging an order of the Bombay High Court which had declined to stay the construction work of a passenger jetty and terminal facilities project near the Gateway of India.

     SC dismissed a plea that sought a direction to the Centre to include the name of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the schedule to the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950.
