Karnataka Lokayukta conducts searches in assets case against four govt officials

Bengaluru, May 8 (PTI) The Karnataka Lokayukta sleuths on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations connected to four government officials in disproportionate assets cases against them.
    Several crore worth houses, sites, ornaments, vehicles and house hold articles disproportionate to their known sources of income, were found at these places, Lokayukta said.
    
According to the Lokayukta, the places raided were connected to Suresh Babu G, Survey Supervisor in the office of the Additional Director, Land Records in Kolar Taluk in Kolar district; Raja Venkatappa Nayak, Taluk Health Officer, Surpur in Yadgir district; M B Ravi, Assistant Executive Engineer, Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board in Davangere; and G Srinivas Murthy, Executive Engineer in Bengaluru civic agency.

Nayak was allegedly found having assets worth Rs 13.59 crore, which includes 11 sites (plots), two houses, 13 acres agricultural land, a petrol pump, a nursing home, a lodge and bar, disproportionate to his known sources of income, Lokayukta said in its statement

He was also found having Rs 4.11 lakh in cash, ornaments worth Rs 60 lakh, vehicles worth Rs 70 lakh, household articles worth Rs 20 lakh, it said.

Lokayukta said Suresh Babu has three sites, five houses, five acres of agriculture land, Rs 3 lakh in cash, ornaments worth Rs 18 lakh, vehicles worth Rs 80 lakh and household articles worth Rs 66.87 lakh. He was found having assets worth Rs 8.19 crore, they added.

    Ravi from Davanagere was found possessing assets worth Rs 2.32 crore including four sites, two houses, ornaments worth Rs 35.72 lakh, vehicles worth Rs 20.77 lakh and Rs 50 lakh worth household articles, the statement said.
The searches at nine places related to BBMP engineer Murthy led to the discovery of 3.46 crore worth assets, which includes four sites, six houses, Rs 10 lakh in cash, Rs 72 lakh worth ornaments, Rs 14 lakh worth vehicles, it said.

The raids were carried out simultaneously in all the above places. Sources in the Lokayukta police said many incriminating documents were also found from the locations which were searched.
