Mrinal Sen got upset with me during filming of one scene of 'Oka Oori Katha' Mamata Shankar

Kolkata, Jan 12 (PTI) Veteran actor Mamata Shankar said Mrinal Sen had got upset with her during one shoot of Telugu film 'Oka Oori Katha' (The Outsiders).
    Shankar also the niece of Pt Ravi Shankar said Sen was very caring, understanding and also a hard taskmaster.
    Shankar had worked with Mrinal Sen in 'Mrigaya' (The royal hunt) in 1976, Oka Oori Katha in 1977, 'Ek Din Pratidin' (And quiet rolls the dawn) in 1979, Kharji (the case is closed) in 1982, said she has very pleasant memories while working with Sen.
    "In Oka Ori Katha, I remember Mrinal da became quite upset as my face repeatedly went out of the frame during a scene where the faces of me and the hero would have to be closer. After several cuts, he asked me what was wrong.
    "I told him that my male co-actor had eaten garlic before the shoot and the overbearing smell forced me to keep my face off. He said oh, that is the point! Finally, we managed to take the shot somehow. He was so caring, and understanding but was a hard taskmaster," Shankar added.
    Oka Oorie Katha, had Pradeep Kumar, G V Narayana Rao, G Narayana Rao, M V Vasudeva Rao, Krishna A R Chintapally Bhadra Reddy among the cast.
    Shankar whose upcoming film 'Bijoyer Pare' is awaiting release this month, told PTI on Thursday there are several feature film-makers in Bengal who are very competent and sensitive but she is yet to get any offer for any suitable role in OTT in Bengali.
    On her first co-actor Mithun Chakraborty in Mrigaya, Shankar recalled "After 47 years (Mrigaya) director Abhijit Sen thought about casting us together in 'Projapoti'. Mithun is basically a very good human being. We are very very good friends. In a book gifted recently, Mithun had scribbled 'my dearest Mamo.' He is a person with a beautiful heart. And he is a fantastic actor. We hope to do more work in future.
    Asked about Anjan Dutt, her co-actor in Ek Din Pratidin (And quiet rolls the dawn) and Kharij (The case is closed), with whom she recently acted in Palan, a sequel of Ek Din Pratidin, Shankar said "I have very good understanding with Anjan. I know how he will deliver a shot, what he will do, he also knows how I will give expressions in a similar way. I enjoy to give shots with Anjan before the camera.
    Talking about Dipankar Dey, with whom she had also done several films including Ray's Agantuk (The Stranger), Shakha Proshakha (The Branches of the Tree) and Ganashatru (An enemy of the people), Mamata Shankar said "I have also done many films with Titoda (Dipankar Dey). Whenever I work with any of these three actors (Mithun, Anjan or Dipankar) I thought about surpassing myself, giving my best to match them."
    Shankar said about the Palan, a sequel to Sen's Cannes jury award winner Kharij, "I was very happy working in Palan and as far as audience response goes, they all liked the film - maybe one or two did not like it. Barring a few everyone liked Palan, they loved the way Kharij was brought, the way the two were merged. Palan retained the names of the characters we portrayed in Kharij. And me, Anjan, and Srila Majumder had revisited those days when Kharij was shot".
