New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) The Chamber of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (CIMSME) has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure protests do not disrupt business activities in Delhi's key commercial hubs, particularly during the ongoing festival season, citing potential losses for MSMEs, startups and traders.
In a memorandum submitted to Shah recently, the MSME body said repeated protests in commercial hubs such as Connaught Place, Ramlila Ground and adjoining areas were affecting business operations, particularly during the ongoing festival season.
It said no protests should be allowed near business and commercial establishments during the festival season.
CIMSME said repeated disruptions, traffic restrictions, metro closures, road blockages and difficulties in accessing business premises, coupled with uncertainty over movement, adversely affect business operations and could result in loss of sales revenue and business opportunities, particularly for small businesses.
The chamber urged the Home Minister to direct the concerned authorities to review the frequency and impact of protests and demonstrations on businesses operating in major commercial areas of Delhi-NCR.
It also appealed to the competent authorities to identify and effectively manage designated locations for demonstrations, away from commercial and residential areas. Emphasising the need to ensure uninterrupted business operations, CIMSME said access to offices, shops, commercial complexes, markets and other business establishments should remain unaffected by such demonstrations.
