The US Secret Service (USSS) officers arrested a 26-year-old man on Thursday after he was found carrying multiple rounds of ammunition  near the White House.

The man was identified as Ronny Yodrix Guanipa Chrinos, a Venezuelan national. The incident occurred Thursday night on Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC. USSS officers allegedly found Ronny in the area, behaving suspiciously inside a parked vehicle.

According to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the officers discovered that the vehicle Ronny used was stolen. He also admitted to having weapons in his vehicle. The investigation reportedly revealed that he carried three different firearms, including a rifle and multiple rounds of ammunition.

A press release from the DHS reported that Ronny heard voices in his head telling him to travel to the nation’s capital and kill US President Donald Trump.

Ronny was charged with carrying a firearm outside of a home or business, unlawful transportation of a firearm, unregistered firearms, unregistered ammunition, possession of certain dangerous weapons, carrying a pistol without a license and unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, theft, and receiving stolen property. Some charges related to ammunition were charged thrice each since he carried three firearms.

According to DHS, Ronny entered the US through Texas in March 2024 and was arrested by the US Border Patrol. They highlighted that the Biden administration let him into the country.

The DHS praised their officers for their patriotic services. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin called the accused “an illegal alien”, reiterating that he was a criminal on different charges.

“On top of threatening President Trump, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who had no business being in our country in the first place. This is just an example of the incredible work done by the men and women of the Secret Service every single day as they put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s leaders. It’s an honour to work alongside Director Sean Curran and all of the patriots at the U.S. Secret Service,” he said.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Ronny. He is currently in custody with the US Marshals Service.
