A popular Japanese porn star was found dead on Saturday in Tokyo's Kabukicho neighbourhood.
25-year-old Hana Kuraki's body was found by a friend at an apartment that reportedly belonged to a prominent bar owner in the red-light district, according to Tokyo Reporter.
The police and the actress's management agency S1 are yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of her death.
As news of her death broke, netizens posted speculations about the apparent suicide and the actress's alleged relationship that involved domestic violence and extortion.
The apartment is owned by club owner Sakito. He had leased the apartment to Kuraki's former partner Shota Taira, a high-earning, prominent star host in Kabukicho.
Taira, 29, is a former idol and was a top earner in his group in 2025.
According to a note believed to have been left by Kuraki before her death, Shota Taira reportedly broke into her home with a key and stole valuables in November 2025. He was arrested a month later on suspicion of assault and theft.
Shota's father then began making threats against her. Hana agreed to a settlement, but the terms were allegedly not honoured.
Sakito took to X to share details about the 25-year-old's death and refuted earlier claims that he was the one who discovered her body.
"I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the news of the obituary of one Kuraki. In my lifetime, he opened up about the difficulties of a relationship." "Please stop spreading rumours and speculations about the death of the deceased," he wrote. "I hope that false information or speculation will not cause further damage to the deceased or their bereaved families."
Sakito said that one of Kuraki's friends found her at his apartment and then informed him. He then went to the residence to manage the situation and speak to the Tokyo police, he said.
Sakito said Kuraki had told him about problems in her relationship and asked people to refrain from spreading rumours.
"I hope that no further harm spreads to the deceased or those around her through misinformation or speculation," he wrote.
"I also hope for a world free of people who use violence to control others or drive them to such desperate straits," he went on.
Hana Kuraki debuted as an adult actress in 2024. She was also due to take part in an adult industry expo in Taiwan later this year. She was trained as a beautician and worked as an assistant for hair and makeup. In 2024, she became a model for S1 label. She also released a photobook.
There was also a report about a hit-and-run incident in June involving Shota Taira. Kuraki had announced a sudden hiatus after she suffered severe facial and jaw injuries from a traffic accident. In a post, she said that she was suspending activities for a period of time.
According to one online whistleblower, however, the injuries were sustained when Taira accelerated his vehicle while Kuraki was attempting to get inside. She was reportedly dragged across the pavement. Documents leaked on the internet show a court settlement regarding the assault and theft, and an apology letter from Taira.
Sakito reportedly phoned Taira to inform him that the actress was found dead in his apartment. He said that Kuraki confided in him about her relationship with Taira.
