Mirjana Pajković, Director General of the Directorate for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms within Montenegro’s Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, had to step down after her private videos leaked online. Involved in the controversy alongside Pajković was Dejan Vukšić—the former director of the National Security Agency (ANB) and a former adviser to President Jakov Milatović—who had earlier stepped down as a consequence of the leak.

Neither party has questioned the authenticity of the leaked private moments. Pajković accused Vukšić of “blackmailing” her with the video to keep her quiet about their affair, while the source of the leak remains shrouded in mystery.

Before submitting her resignation, Pajković reportedly filed three criminal complaints with the Montenegrin police for the unauthorised distribution of explicit content. According to available information, it was a private photograph that was the source material for her complaint, and not the sex tape. Pajković’s resignation statement also encouraged “every woman” to stand up for themselves when threatened, especially if “they very clearly want to destroy your life on all grounds,” the outlet reported.

According to the complaint, Vukšić, as the ANB chief, was well aware of the illegality involved. He attempted to use information he obtained by misusing authority and threatened her; he indirectly spoke about the existence of compromising material on one television show, Serbian media reports quoted Pajković as saying.

She has released a recording of Vukšić allegedly threatening her, before reportedly alleging that the President was aware of Vukšić’s threats against her but did not intervene.

In one of the audio recordings that Pajković made public, Vukšić can allegedly be heard threatening her that “the whole of Montenegro will see,” Serbian Times said in a report.

According to the Criminal Code of Montenegro, any misuse of another person’s recording, photograph, portrait, or audio recording, including sexually explicit content, can attract up to five years in prison. It was only recently that "revenge pornography" was made a criminal offence by including it in the Criminal Code of Montenegro.

Vukšić maintains that the released recordings are fabricated and that the woman official “stole and misused” his phone in 2024.
