Days after the killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer had fired shots at a Minneapolis resident. The shooting incident, amid escalating tensions after Good's death, happened in the 600 block of 24th Avenue North in Minneapolis.

Reportedly, a scuffle took place between the police and some men, where the official fired shots. At least one person was shot, and two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

"We are aware of the reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement agents in north Minneapolis on Wednesday evening," Minneapolis city officials said.

The Department of Homeland Security has identified the man as a Venezuelan. DHS said that the ICE agent was forced to fire "defensive shots to defend his life." "An illegal alien from Venezuela was released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022."

In an attempt to evade arrest, the subject fled the scene in his vehicle and crashed into a parked car. The subject then fled on foot. The law enforcement officer pursued the subject on foot and attempted to apprehend him. There was a struggle, and two subjects came out of a nearby apartment and attacked the officer with a "snow shovel" and "broom handle".

Amid the ambush by the two individuals, the subject got loose and tried to flee. "Fearing for his life and safety, as he was being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired a defensive shot to defend his life. The initial subject was hit in the leg," said DHS.

The attacked officer and the subject are being treated in the hospital, while the other two attackers are in custody, it noted.

The DHS also noted that, "Their hateful rhetoric and resistance against men and women who are simply trying to do their jobs must end. Federal law enforcement officers are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest criminals and lawbreakers."

The second ICE shooting is taking place amid nationwide protests seeking justice for Minnesota woman Good, who was shot dead by ICE agent Jonathan Ross.

Though the Trump administration and the president himself have come out to support and defend Ross's action, the FBI is investigating the incident. A separate investigation has been announced by Minnesota officials as well. Several videos of the incident, showing different perspectives, circulated on social media, revealing the shooting incident.
