Adelaide's Parafield Airport witnessed a plane crash, causing black plumes of smoke to billow into the sky. According to Australian news reports, emergency services units were rushed to the airfield located in Adelaide’s north about 12.30pm on Monday following the incident involving a small aircraft.
The National Tribune said that the aircraft landed heavily and caught fire on impact. The flames then spread to nearby grass as the wreckage went up in flames. The flames however, have since been extinguished, the report said.
The small aircraft involved in the crash carried just the pilot, who survived sans injuries, multiple media reports added. No other planes were damaged either, they added.
