US President Donald Trump condemned an alleged Ukraine attack targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence in northern Russia.

Trump said he learned about the attack during a telephone conversation with Putin.

"I don't like it. It's not good," he said while speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

"It's a delicate time. This is not the right time. It's one thing to be offensive, because they're offensive. It's another thing to attack his house. It's not the right time to do any of that."

Trump, however, also admitted that it was possible the incident had not taken place.

“You’re saying maybe the attack didn’t happen? That’s possible too, I guess. But President Putin told me this morning it did. I was very angry about it," he said.

Russia, on Monday, accused Ukraine of trying to target Putin's residence with 91 log-range drones and vowed retaliation.

"There will be a response for this," TASS state news agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as saying.

Moscow did not provide any evidence to support its assertions, while Kyiv dismissed Russia's claims as baseless and designed to undermine peace negotiations.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump had a positive call with Russian President Putin on ending the Ukraine conflict.

"President Trump has concluded a positive call with President Putin concerning Ukraine,” she said in a brief post on X (formerly Twitter).

Trump dialed Putin a day after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Florida resort to discuss the peace deal.

Following the meeting, Trump said that both Russia and Ukraine are 'closer than ever' to peace, though he admitted that some of the thorniest details remain unresolved.
