3 people were killed and eight were injured in Southport, a coastal city in North Carolina, US, after a gunman who approached by boat, fired shots at a waterfront bar, American Fish Company.
A person of interest is currently being questioned, according to Southport spokesperson ChyAnn Ketchum.
The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. local time, officials said, according to 911 calls made. 10 to 15 shots were fired from a passing boat at the crowded dockside restaurant at the Southport Yacht basin.
The boat then left the area through the Intracoastal Waterway, according to City Manager Noah Saldo, who spoke to Star News.
The city’s social media page sent out a warning for an active shooter in the area. So far, no arrests have been made. The extent of the victims’ injuries is also unknown.
