Three people were killed and at least six were injured in Southport, a coastal city in North Carolina, US, after a gunman who approached by boat, fired shots at a waterfront bar, American Fish Company.
A person of interest is currently being questioned, according to Southport spokesperson ChyAnn Ketchum.
The incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. local time, officials said, according to 911 calls made. 10 to 15 shots were fired from a passing boat at the crowded dockside restaurant at the Southport Yacht basin.

The boat then left the area through the Intracoastal Waterway, according to City Manager Noah Saldo, who spoke to Star News. The boat may have been headed toard the neighbouring community of Oak Island where authorities are investigating.
The city’s social media page sent out a warning for an active shooter in the area. Authorities warned all residents to stay in their homes and report any suspicious activity in a Facebook post. So far, no arrests have been made. The extent of the victims’ injuries is also unknown.
American Fish Company is a popular hang out spot in the city and often features live music. A post on Instagram by the band Bacon Grease showed that they were scheduled to perform on Saturday when the shooting occured from 7 to 10 p.m.
