It has been revealed that Tyler Robinson, 22, who allegedly killed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk moments after he praised the Mormon church. Ironically, Tyler is himself a member of the church

Neighbours recalled that Tyler was a "very nice" Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, adding that he regularly attended church with his family as a child, reported New York Post.

Saying 50 per cent of his team is Mormon, Charlie Kirk said moments before the shooting, “I love how Mormons send missionaries around the world, I love how polite they are. … Half my team is Mormon."

“Mormons are great people. Let me just say, I’m an evangelical Christian, but I’m not one of those guys that hates on Mormons,” Kirk added.

Following the shooting, leaders of the Latter-day Saints Church condemned “horrific acts of violence worldwide, including the recent assassination in Utah. "We affirm our repeated calls to seek peace and unity despite our differences," they added.

They urged everyone to reject violence and work towards an understanding. "Recognizing that we are all children of God, we must treat one another with more dignity, compassion and respect," the statement read.

Tyler Robinson's father, Matt Robinson, is running a construction firm while his mother, Amber Robinson, is employed with Intermountain Support Coordination Services, where she takes care of differently abled people.

"I knew his mom (Amber Robinson, you know, just by church and school," the outlet quoted Kristin Scheiermann, a local resident, as saying. "He was smart. I hear he aced his ACTs [pre-college exam]. I hear he had a full-ride scholarship to college."

University Rep Amanda DeRito said Tyler received the presidential scholarship from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. However, he spent only one semester at the school in 2021 and took a leave of absence. The university did not disclose the reason for his leave.

Recently, Tyler was enrolled as a third-year student at Dixie Technical College in St George, Utah for an electrical apprenticeship program.
