Following the death of conservative activist and Trump ally Charles Kirk at a Utah university on Wednesday (local time), netizens have rushed to explain his death online, often slowing down videos from the crime and zooming in to highlight details.

Two men standing behind Kirk are the latest to be suspected of playing a role in his murder, after a number of users pointed out online that they made suspicious hand signals just before he was allegedly shot by a sniper.

"FBI Director Kash, these 2 men standing behind Charlie Kirk look like they were giving hand signals right before the shot went off, you might want to look into it!" a user wrote on X attaching a video, and urging FBI director Kash Patel to take action.

In the video, a man wearing a white shirt and cap can indeed be seen holding up a phone and later adjusting his cap (and doing something to his right ear), standing alongside another man in a black shirt, who seems to move his hands across his body.

Both the men were standing behind Kirk as he delivered a speech to around 3,000 people gathered at the Utah Valley University (UVU).

Many users agreed on X and Reddit that the two men were suspicious, with a Redditor claiming that their stances also indicated that they were "waiting for something", calling it "extremely creepy to watch".

"Dude … the odds that they are FBI *and* in on it are drastically higher than you think," an X user claimed.

However, a large number of people also disagreed with the suspicions, with one user alleging that "the guy in the black has been Charlie's security guard for as long as I can remember".

"Some say this is his security, they wouldn't be holding a phone up and acting like one with the crowd if that was the case,"  another user argued.

"Our investigation continues, and we will continue to release information in the interest of transparency,” FBI director Kash Patel has written on X, since the shooting.
