Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been in Adiala Jail since August 2023, might walk free this week, according to his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
PTI chief Gohar Ali Khan said Imran could get bail in the ₹2,202 crore Al-Qadir Trust case on June 11. The announcement comes as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) is set to hear the pleas requesting the suspension of Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi's sentences.
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is expected to allow Imran's release, provided the former PM tones down his rhetoric against the military and cancel his calls for nationwide protests.

However, Gohar alleged that Bushra Bibi was being imprisoned without any charges to put pressure on Imran, but he said the party will not agree to any deals for Imran's release.
Last month, the former Pakistani cricketer called for a widespread protest against the federal government led by PM Shehbaz Sharif and the military establishment. The 72-year-old has urged the opposition parties to ally with the PTI for the sake of Pakistan's survival, calling Shehbaz's party PML(N) and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's Pakistan People's Party as "mandate thieves".
In a message, passed on by Imran's sister Aleema Khan said, "Start preparing for a mass movement; I will not call people to Islamabad, but we will launch the movement across Pakistan," reported Express Tribune.
Imran had earlier vowed not to surrender even if he is forced to spend the rest of his life in prison. "No matter the extent of the torture, I will never accept subjugation. I will not give in," Aleema quoted her brother as saying earlier.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who is a key PTI leader, had earlier threatened to launch a mass movement after Eid al-Adha in support of Imran.
The former PM was ousted in a no-confidence vote in April 2022, following which he was sentenced to three years in jail in the Toshakana case. Following the suspension of the case, Imran as charged with multiple other cases and has been in jail ever since.
