'I'll be back': Sheikh Hasina takes a jab at Muhammad Yunus, vows justice for Awami League members

Ousted Bangladesh leader Sheikh Hasina broke her silence on Tuesday, saying, she will be back in her country soon and that she is alive for a reason.

"Allah kept me alive for a reason," the former Bangladesh PM said, adding that those who targeted members of her party, Awami League, will be brought to justice. She was speaking with Awami League members on social media.

Sheikh Hasina fled to India after protesters breached her residence in Dhaka last year. Following this, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was made the chief advisor to the interim government in Bangladesh. 

Slamming Yunus, Hasina said he is "someone who never loved the people" and alleged that he lent money at high interest rates and led a lavish life abroad using poor people's money.

"We could not understand his duplicity then, so we helped him a lot. But people did not benefit. He did well for himself. Then developed a lust for power that is burning Bangladesh now," the former Bangladesh PM said.

Sheikh Hasina said Yunus's supporters have turned Bangladesh into a "terrorist country". "Our leaders and workers are being killed in a way that cannot be described," she said.

The ousted leader went on to slam a crackdown on media, saying rapes, murders and dacoities are not being reported by newspapers and TV channels fearing repercussions.
