Major anti-piracy operation by Indian Navy in progress in Arabian Sea: Report

Two Indian naval ships, deployed in the Arabian Sea for maritime security operations, were diverted to intercept and thwart the hijacking of a fishing vessel, on Friday.

According to news agency ANI, the ships were diverted to intercept the hijacked fishing vessel based on the inputs on a potential piracy incident onboard the Iranian fishing vessel 'Al-Kambar 786'.

At the time of the hijacking incident, the fishing vessel was approximately 90 Nm southwest of Socotra. According to reports, nine armed pirates had boarded the vessel.

The operation to rescue the hijacked fishing vessel and its crew is currently underway.
