Soon after Kate Middleton opened up about her cancer diagnosis, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reached out to wish "health and healing" for the Princess of Wales.

"We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace," a message from the couple stated.

Kate, in a short video, said she was "getting stronger every day" though it had been an "incredibly tough couple of months". “This of course came as a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.

Though many feel that the positive gesture from couple could help mend their rift with the royal family, some wondered why they were kept in the dark about Kate's cancer until the news was made public.

“Several sources confirm that there were no such conversations and it is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television, at the same time as the public,” a source told The Times.

One royal expert told The Sun that the information might have been withheld from Harry and Meghan due to "trust" issues.

"There’s a deep rift between the brothers... We also know that they haven’t apparently spoken in many months, and the reason, of course, is that for some four years they've caused endless problems to the royal family and so they can’t be trusted," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said.

Royal author Phil Dampier had a similar opinion, saying, "The Sussexes weren’t told about it because the relationship between William and Harry is at an all-time low."

Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals more than four years ago and have been living in California ever since. They have a son, Archie, and daughter, Lilibet, who was named after her late great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
