In a shocking revelation, the Princess of Wales, HRH Catherine, in a video, revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Ever since, messages of support and empathy have been flowing in from the world over. The couple, have reiterated the need for privacy.

“The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message,” said the statement from a Kensington Palace spokesperson.

“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time,” it further read.

Her statement followed weeks of speculation and conspiracy theories about her whereabouts because she had not been seen on official engagements since Christmas last December.

Around UK Mother's Day (March 10), Kate had posted a picture of her with her three children, which later triggered controversy, after a major photo agency revealed that the picture was doctored. This intensified conspiracy theories around Kate's absence from the public eye.

Catherine and William who got married in 2011, have three children-- Charlotte (8), George (10) and Louis (5).

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, too, sent out a message. "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace," read a statement the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent out to NBC.

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Lee-Curtis, in the meanwhile, on her Instagram account had written, “Can we please just STOP with this bullshit conspiracy theory? This is a human being with young children, and clearly some sort of a health issue. That is a private matter. Do we not have better things to do and more important things to think about and be concerned about than this? It's a really low point in our society when there are SO MANY crucial issues that need our attention.”

After the princess released the video revealing her diagnosis, the actor commented on her own post, and wrote, “And now Princess Kate has told us about her health and now we should send nothing but our best wishes to her and her family and focus on our own lives and the lives of people directly related to us, and the myriad life-threatening issues to our children that we can focus on.”

King Charles III, who was also diagnosed with cancer in February, is said to be "proud" of his "beloved" daughter-in-law for her "courage" in speaking about her treatment, according to a PTI report. The 75-year-old monarch has also been off public-facing duties while he undergoes treatment.
