The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf has decided to lodge a case against the Rangers and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 'kidnapping ' their chief Imran Khan. Khan was arrested from the premises of Islamabad High Court on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
PTI will also lodge cases over the “murder of unarmed citizens at peaceful protests” across the country, Dawn reported. Khan's arrest led to violent protests in the country, in which 10 were killed and a dozen others injured. Internet services remained suspended through the country. Khan was removed from office via a no-confidence motion last April.
“The interior minister, as well as Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief ministers and police chiefs, will be nominated in these cases,” the party resolved, Dawn reported.
For the first time in the country's history, the protesters stormed the army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and also torched the historic Corps Commander's House in Lahore.
Imran's party claims 40 of its workers lost their lives in the firing by security personnel.
The PTI, in a meeting led by Khan, said, Supreme Court’s high-powered commission should be formed to investigate the deaths of citizens on the day of the arrest.
