New visa rules in UAE: Here is what you need to know

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced new advanced visa rules that came into effect from Monday. The new system has various benefits, including a new multiple-entry tourist visa that allows foreigners to stay in the country for up to 90 days. 

According to UAE authorities, the new system has facilities to meet the needs of all categories of foreigners and residents, thereby restructuring the country’s current immigration policy. It is expected the boost the number of residents. 

There are also facilities for easy renewal of the visa for up to one year without a sponsor requirement.

The Green Residence Visa

One of the highlights of the system is the renewable five-year Green Residence Visa that will allow its holder to sponsor himself/herself for five years, thereby eliminating the need of a UAE national or employer to sponsor the visa. Besides, the Green Visa also permits its holders to get residence permits for family members and has a flexible grace period of up to six months to stay in UAE even after its expiry or cancellation, reported Gulf News.

Besides, the visa holder can sponsor his/her male children up to 25 years (previously 18 years), with no age limit for unmarried daughters and children with special needs. 

These visas are available for skilled workers, people who earn more than AED 15,000 a month, and for those with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education. This will also allow for more flexible working, particularly for freelancers. 

Job seekers visa, tourist visa

Besides, the visa for job seekers will allow professionals to seek employment opportunities in the UAE without a sponsor or host. 

While the new tourist visas will allow the visitors to stay in UAE for 60 days, a new five-year multi-entry tourist visa will allow visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days in a row. 

Golden visa

The new system also offers additional benefits to the Golden Visa holders, which includes the visa remaining valid irrespective of the time its holder spends outside the country. It also removes the imit on the number of sponsored domestic labourers and enables family members to stay in the country during the visa’s validity period even after the holder of the golden visa dies. The minimum monthly salary requirement for Golden Visa too have dropped from AED 50,000 to AED 30,000.
