Ivana Trump, Donald Trump's first wife was buried at the National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Few immediately guessed that the decision might also serve her ex-husband’s long-held tax planning purposes, The Guardian reported. The Trump family trust had previously sought to designate a property near the golf course in Hackettstown, New Jersey, as a non-profit cemetery company, documents published by ProPublica revealed.

The Trump family, which owns the golf business has spent a lot of time at the course during the summers. As per the tax code in New Jersey, cemetery land is exempt from all taxes, rates and assessments. This certainly puts the Trump family in an advantageous position in a state where property and land taxes are notoriously high. Ivana is the first person known to have been buried at the golf course.

Former president Trump had, in 2014, expressed his wish to be buried at the golf course and have a private family burial plot at the course. He later wished to turn it into a burial plot for 300 members of the club.
