Oman authorities announced tighter restrictions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. The Sultanate will extend its coronavirus curfew by three hours each evening for two weeks to prevent people from gathering in large numbers. There will be a complete movement ban on the Eid Al Adha holiday. The Supreme Committee responsible for COVID-19, via on Tuesday ordered the lockdown begin at 5 pm and last till 4 am from July 16 to July 31.
Currently, the curfew, which has been in place since June 2, is from 8 pm to 4 am
Authorities also announced that no Eid prayers will be performed and all traditional habta markets, which are shops selling traditional Eid-related wares in town centres will be closed. Family gatherings and collective Eid greeting assemblies won’t be allowed either.
The Sultanate, which is battling a second wave has added Singapore, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Argentina, Columbia and Brunei Darussalam to the list of countries it is banning visitors from. The virus has claimed 3,339 people in Oman so far. Authorities, on Monday, registered 1,570 new cases of COVID-19.
