Princess Maria Galitzine Singh passed away on May 4 and was laid to rest four days later at the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. Galitzine, 31, was the daughter of Princess Maria-Anna, daughter of Archduke Rudolf of Austria, and Prince Piotr Galitzine.

She was a descendant of Karl I and princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma of the Habsburg dynasty, the last emperor and empress of Austria.

Galitzine, an interior designer by profession, is survived by her husband and her two-year-old son.

Her obituary in The Houston Chronicle read, “Our Maria passed away in the Houston morning of Monday, May 4, 2020, from a sudden cardiac aneurysm”. The obituary describes her son Maxim as the “apple of her eye”.

Galitzine had three sisters—Xenia Galitzine de Matta, Tatiana Galitzine Sierra and Alexandra—and two brothers—Princes Dmitri and Ioann.

Born in Luxemburg in 1988, her family moved to Russia when she was five. Galitzine then moved to Belgium to attend the College of Art and Design.

After working in Brussels and Chicago, she moved to Houston, where she met Rishi Singh, who works as the executive chef at Houston's Hotel Derek. The couple had been married for three years.
