PM Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump in French town of Biarritz at the G7 Summit. The two leaders talked about trade and Kashmir. PM Modi made it clear that all issues can be resolved bilaterally.
A few weeks ago, Trump had offered to intervene to solve the Kashmir issue. But Modi insisted that he did not want to give pain to any third country. Pakistan PM Imran Khan, however, has not been happy on how the Kashmir issue has played out with Indian government's abrogation of Article 370, which takes off special autonomy granted to the state. He contacted German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, US President Donald Trump and Malaysian Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad for support in resolving the issue. Khan plans to address the nation regarding the issue at 5.30 pm today.
Indian PM Narendra Modi, however, maintains that “India and Pakistan should work together for the welfare of people of our two nations.” Trump said that India and Pakistan can handle the issue on their own, but that he is here should they need someone to intervene.
