Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickeremesinghe along with his wife, Maithree Wickremesinghe offered prayers at the Sri Mookambika temple on Friday. He participated in the nava chandika homa.

K.N. Narasimha Adiga, preist of the temple, informed the press that the prime minister prayed to the goddess for the welfare of the people and prosperity of Sri Lanka.

Wickeremesinghe arrived via road from Mangaluru airport at 11.10 am. He also participated in the Maha Puja in the temple and accepted prasadam.

Since the visit comes months within the blasts at Sri Lanka, security was beefed up around the temple and throughout the town. Wickeremesinghe and his wife received a grand welcome from the temple authorities.
