Lanka PM Ranil Wickremesinghe offers prayers at Mookambika temple

He prayed to the goddess for the welfare of the people and prosperity of Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe along with his wife, Maithree, offered prayers at the Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur, Karnataka, on Friday. He participated in the nava chandika homa.

K.N. Narasimha Adiga, priest of the temple, informed the press that the prime minister prayed to the goddess for the welfare of the people and prosperity of Sri Lanka.

Wickremesinghe arrived via road from Mangaluru airport at 11.10am. He also participated in the maha puja in the temple and accepted prasadam.

Since the visit comes months after the blasts at Sri Lanka, security was beefed up around the temple and throughout the town. Wickeremesinghe and his wife received a grand welcome from the temple authorities.
