Showcasing a stellar performance at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Japan's Nagoya, India has added another gold to its medal tally.
The Indian women's 4x400m relay quartet of Kiran, Poovamma, Prachi and Vithya delivered a stunning performance to finish first in the final and secure gold for the country. With this, the medal tally has crossed 50. This is also the first athletics gold medal for India at the Asian Games 2026, with an impressive time of 3:29.69. Bahrain and China finished second and third, respectively.
Meanwhile, India's Pooja Singh showcased her best with a leap of 1.84 metres to clinch a bronze medal in women's high jump. This was after India's Gulveer Singh continued his spectacular run of form at the ongoing games by winning a bronze medal in the men's 5000m with a time of 13:32.75, completing a hat-trick of podium finishes in the Japanese city.
