Speculation is rife that Manchester United will bid for Juventus's Francisco Conceição in the coming days. However, football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that while the Italian side are willing to sell Conceição, he has received no information to date regarding United's interest in him.
Romano, however, confirmed that he cannot claim that Manchester United will not bid for Conceição at all. All he was saying was that United have not made a move yet for the Portuguese attacker. “Manchester United and Conceição today doesn’t exist... If it happens tomorrow morning, I will tell you, but today it’s not there,” he reportedly said.
According to Romano, Bryan Mbeumo was a roaring success for United last season. Amad Diallo, another player with a similar profile to Conceição, is also looking good — making the team targeting another winger highly unlikely.
“As of today, I don’t see Manchester United working on Francisco Conceição. There are denials from everyone: the player’s entourage, United, Juve and, so, I don’t know where this story about Conceição and Manchester United came from,” TeamTalk quoted Romano as saying via YouTube.
He added that Juventus have not made it a priority to offload the attacker and are okay if he stays. However, they will consider selling him for the right price. The situation is the same with the player, Romano said; he is willing to stay in Turin unless a lucrative bid lands.
“Juve aren’t trying to sell Conceição, nor is Conceição saying, ‘Juve, I want to leave’... So, it’s a situation that, like all those regarding important players... if the right financial opportunity arrives, it gets evaluated; otherwise, we are more than happy as is,” TeamTalk claimed Romano as saying on YouTube.
It is widely claimed that Joshua Zirkzee is set to leave Old Trafford and United will rope in another striker to support Benjamin Šeško. The club are not willing to spend big on any single player and are focusing on budget purchases.
As per an earlier report, noted football agent Jorge Mendes was trying to engineer a player swap, with Zirkzee heading to Juve and Conceição reaching United. Romano's claims contradict this earlier update, which was published by many leading publications.
