Marcus Rashford will not leave Manchester United to sign for Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr FC, transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has reportedly confirmed.
The noted journalist claimed that the England international will not leave Old Trafford to play in the Middle East. His priority is to remain in Europe and play elite-level football.
Rashford, who was at loggerheads with former manager Ruben Amorim, was loaned out to Aston Villa and Barcelona. He was expected to sign a permanent deal with Barcelona before the Catalans backed out. Most predicted that Rashford was not going to play in the red shirt again.
However, in the post-Amorim era, Manchester United are said to be letting Rashford have another shot at mending his ties with the fans and the club. He is being asked to join the pre-season tour as part of turning a fresh page. As things stand, United will integrate him into the squad unless he wants to quit.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr were earlier linked with United captain Bruno Fernandes as well. The legend was ready to talk to his international teammate before it was revealed that the Saudi champions were not doing great financially. They were not in a position to make any big-budget signings, it was reported. If that is the case, it seems unlikely that Rashford can be signed even if he is open to the move.
Romano, meanwhile, has reportedly claimed that Al-Nassr is not even being considered as a possible destination by the England international. Unless a top European team shows interest in him, the 28-year-old will not leave Old Trafford this summer, he said.
