Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall is being tracked by Manchester United as cover for Luke Shaw, an insider journalist has reportedly said. The experienced Luke Shaw is notorious for his fitness issues and will require a backup as Manchester United return to European football. Even if Shaw remains fit, the increased number of games means there is room for another left-back in the squad.
It was United journalist Andy Mitten who reportedly spoke about the possibility of Hall joining Manchester United. The £60 million-rated 21-year-old is interested in joining United, according to Mitten, who declared the club will not be tracking a player who is disinterested in coming.
“United like Lewis Hall, the young left-back at Newcastle United. Manchester United would not be targeting players if they did not think they would want to come to Old Trafford,” he reportedly said on United We Stand.
A Chelsea academy product, Hall joined Newcastle in 2024 and is under contract until 2029. A progressive fullback, who can also operate in the left midfield, he is good in tight areas and firing in crosses. Hall likes to carry the ball forward and play progressive passes. He can press high and likes to be aggressive rather than simply sitting deep.
Newcastle United, meanwhile, signed midfielder Aladji Bamba on a five-year deal from French side AS Monaco. The Magpies manager Eddie Howe recently confessed that he is unsure whether Bruno Guimarães will remain at the club amid interest from Arsenal, but said he had held "good conversations" with the midfielder.
