Djed Spence could be looking for an exit route from Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United could well provide that, the latest reports indicate.
Pedro Porro is naturally the first-choice right-back for Spurs after his FIFA World Cup heroics, and the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool means there is competition for the left-back role as well. Unless certain guarantees are given by Roberto De Zerbi, the England international is likely to look for a move before the summer transfer window shuts, reports said.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville is among the admirers of Spence. He believes the 25-year-old is an investment worth making given his versatility to operate on both flanks. Diogo Dalot is not a dependable right-back option, and Luke Shaw's fitness concerns have long been an issue for United. Noussair Mazraoui could find the workload too much with the club returning to the European circuit, and Spence could provide the team with a much-needed upgrade if the move materialises.
Spence is also tracked by several Serie A teams. Everton are the other English team that is strongly linked with the player. According to available information, Tottenham are set to demand around £40 million for their full-back, who was an integral part of England's World Cup campaign. The current deal keeps him at Tottenham Hostpur Stadium until 2029.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Manu Koné of AS Roma is a frontrunner to land an offer from Manchester United — their third midfield signing this window after Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
It was transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano who confirmed on his YouTube channel that United have already got in touch with Koné's camp. The Red Devils will not spend around £76 million for the Frenchman as claimed by some sources, he said. The club will sign the 25-year-old only if he is made available at a cheaper rate.
