Manchester United's interest in Aurélien Tchouaméni is no secret as the former Premier League champions identified him as the perfect replacement for Casemiro.
The decision to try and replace Real Madrid legend Casemiro with another player from the club was also financial, as the French World Cup star could cost less compared to Premier League counterparts.
However, despite the strong interest and solid relationship between the two clubs, the 26-year-old may ultimately decide to continue at the Spanish capital, new reports claimed. Newly appointed Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has spoken to Tchouaméni and has expressed his desire to work with him.
The likes of noted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have spoken about Tchouaméni having already agreed on a contract extension with Real Madrid until 2029, if not 2031. The former Monaco player's current deal is set to expire in mid 2028.
It was on his YouTube channel on Wednesday that Fabrizio Romano reportedly spoke about the CDM's situation. “Tchouaméni is considered internally at Man United as the dream midfielder, the perfect midfielder in terms of leadership, being an elite player, international defensive midfielder, the perfect next one after Casemiro.
“But on Tchouaméni, guys, my understanding is that he has already signed the new contract with Real Madrid.
“So, everything is done.
“The new contract is signed.
“He’s a really important player for José Mourinho.
“Mourinho was pushing to keep Tchouaméni, so the understanding is that Tchouaméni is staying at Real Madrid and signing a new contract.
“That’s the clear feeling," Romano said on YouTube.
