It is no secret that the Manchester United management is disappointed by the performance of their Uruguayan CDM, Manuel Ugarte. As per a latest report, the Premier League side has put him at the very top of their 'for sale' list for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old Ugarte was expected to take over from veteran Casemiro but never managed to find his feet at Old Trafford since his arrival from French giants PSG in 2024. In the course of the two years, several club legends labelled him inconsistent and unworthy of the red shirt. As per reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also lost his faith in the player and has made the ultimate decision to sell him.

With Manchester United having secured a UEFA Champions League return, more signings are expected when the window opens. To fund these incomings, they will have to make some sales first, and the South American is likely to be among the first to be let go.

What is more striking is the claim that Ugarte is likely to be sold for half the amount he was signed for. United shelled out £50.5 million on Ugarte but are now willing to negotiate with Atlético Madrid and Napoli to offload him for half the price, TEAMtalk said in a report. The clubs are open to spending as much as £24.3 million for the midfielder, the report said.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has himself approved the selling of Ugarte, whose departure, alongside others, is expected to bring in money in the tune of £160 million to the club, the report added.

With four rounds left to play, third-placed Manchester United host arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
