It will be a homecoming of sorts for Faf du Plessis during the India-South Africa game in Ahmedabad on Sunday (February 22). The 41-year-old has recently dived into the commentary field during the ongoing T20 World Cup. While du Plessis has been an active commentator and analyst over the last few weeks, the India-South Africa game will be special.
Reason? du Plessis is expected to be part of Tamil commentary on Star Sports. For those unaware, Star Sports is known to have regional channels where there is commentary through their respective regional languages. Of the lot, Star Sports Tamil arguably has the most popularity and du Plessis' entry has a deeper tone to proceedings.

Du Plessis was part of the Chennai Super Kings camp for more than a decade, having won multiple titles with the Chennai franchise during this period. Even after leaving CSK, the veteran South African has always been a fan favourite for the Yellow Brigade. Faf played exactly 50 T20Is for South Africa with his last international game in this format coming back in 2020. With an average of 35 and strike rate of 134, du Plessis was one of South Africa's key batters in white-ball cricket. In the IPL, he aggregated close to 5000 runs at a strike rate of 136 and average of 35.
Over the years, du Plessis has played around the globe in a plethora of franchise leagues, be it in T20 or even in T10. However, his connect with CSK and its fans remain unprecedented.
