Four days into T20 World Cup 2026 and the tournament is truly alive and kicking! Associate nations may not have caused an upset yet but have all fought hard to give us thrilling contests. On Wednesday (February 11), the tournament went a gear up by experiencing the first Super Over of this edition. In a high-scoring game that saw more than 370 runs scored, South Africa and Afghanistan couldn't be separated.

It took two Super Overs to decide the winner in a roller-coaster ride in Ahmedabad. JioHotstar recorded 69 million views by the end of the game, which is the highest for any morning game in this T20 World Cup. While these are real-time views, they are concurrent views, which means that the user count need not be as huge. Prior to Jio's takeover, Hotstar had unique real time views but not anymore.

Regardless, JioHotstar saw record viewership during the contest and it indicates the hunger of cricket fans for a thrilling T20 game, even if India aren't playing. The game was topsy-turvy and to be frank, both sides had their moments with Afghanistan being the side with better chances to claim victory.

There were too many deja vu moments in the contest too. For example, South Africa needed a six off the final ball of the first Super Over to create another tie in the game. Tristan Stubbs managed to get under the low full toss from Fazalhaq Farooqi to send it over the rope for a maximum that stunned the Afghanistan camp.

In the second Super Over, Afghanistan had the exact same situation as they needed a six off the final ball to create a third Super Over. Unfortunately for them, Rahmanullah Gurbaz couldn't replicate Stubbs. It is the third Super Over for Afghanistan in T20Is and they have now lost all three. Meanwhile, South Africa have won both their Super Over contests.
