Rajasthan Royals may not have experienced the best phase on the field in the Indian Premier League across the last two seasons but financially, they continue to be superstrong. The Jaipur franchise is set to be the first IPL franchise to get a valuation of over $1 billion and the best part is that there are multiple bids at this amount.

RR is currently owned by Emerging Media Ventures in association with RedBird Capital Partners and Tiger Global. American investor Kal Somani, already an investor in RR, owns one of the consortium that is bidding for the franchise. Times Internet, Blackstone Inc. and Carlyl Group Inc. are the other contenders in the list to acquire RR.

All the four bidders have listed out an astounding offer of $1.3 billion for the Royals franchise with the initial bid starting at $1.1 billion. RR were the winners of the maiden IPL season in 2008 but only reached the final once since, in 2022 where they lost to Gujarat Titans. Since the 2022 season, things went downhill for RR, resulting in a large-scale revamp after IPL 2025.

RR's sale process is being conducted by Raine Group who are best known for handling the purchase process of English Premier Clubs like Chelsea (2022) and Manchester United (2024). Considering the immense buzz attracted by RR, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru are likely to receive bigger bids due to their superior brand value at present.

RCB has aggressively been looking out for a change in ownership and it could materialize in the coming months. Sources close to the Bengaluru franchise believe that bids in the vicinity of $2 billion are expected for the 2025 IPL champions.
