Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow with winger Patrick Dorgu set to be ruled out for ten weeks due to a hamstring injury. Dorgu picked up the injury during the Red Devils' 3-2 win against Arsenal on Sunday (January 25). Initially, it seemed like cramps when Dorgu went off the field but subsequent reports have confirmed a hamstring tear.

“He ended up coming off with a little bit of cramp, hopefully it’s nothing worse," said United's interim manager Michael Carrick at the post-match press conference.

"At this stage it’s hard to tell so we’ll just have to wait and see, but we’re hoping it’s not too bad.”

Dorgu was clutching his hamstring after the fall that happend prior to his exit from the game. United's medical staff examined Dorgu with exhaustive tests and scans, which means that the 21-year-old would be out of action till the end of March. While an exact timeline of Dorgu's return hasn't been mapped yet, the only thing certain is that he would be out of action for the immediate future.

It's been an excellent phase for Dorgu who scored a goal apiece in both of Manchester United's recent victories against Manchester City and Arsenal respectively. The Danish winger has three goals and as many assists from 14 games this season. Apart from his goal contributions, Dorgu has also been a vital part of United's attacking unit.

The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for Dorgu who has been in great rhythm in United's recent fixtures. While he had spent a large part of this season as a wing-back under Ruben Amorim, Carrick's entry has helped Dorgu regain the winger position that he clearly relishes a lot more.

"Pat’s been a big player for us over the last couple of games attacking-wise - he’s scored two goals, but in terms of his threat and athleticism and his quality coming in as well."
