The Smriti Mandhana-Palash Muchhal episode has been over back in December but the aftermath of the wedding fiasco still continues. On Sunday (January 25), Muchhal took to Instagram to announce a defamation suit against Smriti's childhood friend and actor-producer Vidnyan Mane. This reaction comes just days after Mane's sensational revelation about the events leading to the wedding cancellation.
Mane's revelation comes shortly after his legal notice to Muchhal regarding alleged fraud to the tune of Rs 40 lakh on the pretext of investments for a film that never took off. Once the marriage was called off, Mane also alleges that Muchhal's entire family cut off communication with him, leaving his finances hanging.
Mane also claimed to have witnessed the dramatic events that led to the wedding being called-off. According to him, Muchhal was allegedly 'caught red-handed' with another woman in bed. The more sensational detail that he revealed was about Muchhal being allegedly beaten up by Mandhana's India teammates who had come to attend the wedding.
"A legal notice of defamation of ₹10 crore has been sent by my lawyer Shreyansh Mithare to Sangli based Vidnyan Mane for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations made with the deliberate intent to malign my reputation and character." read the Instagram story posted by Muchhal on his personal account.
Reddit was the first platform to leak the news of Muchhal-Mandhana wedding cancellation and most of the theories floating around the incident on the platform are allegedly true. Especially if these latest claims by Mane are correct. Reddit users have quickly taken off the blocks to roast Muchhal for his post.
"kaisi reputation? Bro is sooo delusional.." said a user, clearly amused with Muchhal's stance. Another user took a direct potshot of being ignorant about Muchhal's existence. "Ghante ka reputation, I know him because of Smriti only." Most of the users reacted in similar tone and one user felt that this defamation case was rationally inaccurate too.
"Were the accusations true? If they are, one cannot be sued for speaking truth unless there's NDA involved."
Some more hilarious responses to Muchhal's defamation post can be seen below.
"Buddy the only person who you should sue for maligning your reputation is yourself."
"Just 10 crore, bas? Go big Palash baby; if you have the guts."
