After Indian Cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal postponed their wedding, the internet began to speculate that something was going on between the couple.

The two had announced that their wedding, which was supposed to be held on November 23, was put on hold after Smriti’s father suffered from a sudden health scare. Soon after, Palash also had to be taken to the hospital due to health issues resulting from stress.

However, rumours soon surfaced claiming that the actual reason the couple put the marriage ceremony on hold was due to Palash allegedly cheating on Smirit with a dance choreographer. Two people’s names soon surfaced amid the rumours. Nandika Diwedi and Gulnaaz.

On Friday, Nandika took to Instagram to issue a statement claiming that she had no involvement with Palash.

In the post, she wrote that the speculations about her involvement have affected others. “Over the past few days, I’ve seen speculation about my involvement in a situation that has been deeply personal for other people. I want to address and clarify that the assumptions being made about me - particularly the idea that I played a role in disrupting anyone’s relationship - are simply NOT true. It’s extremely painful to watch a narrative form around something I had no part in, and even more difficult to see how quickly these stories grow without any basis in reality,” she said.

She also criticised media outlets for publishing information and defamatory content based on internet gossip from sites like Reddit.  “Please understand, this will not be easy for me to come out of; I cannot be falsely accused anymore. Please. I have been watching those I care about feel stressed and hurt by information that is not true, and it is taking a toll on my mental health," she said

She also revealed that she received threats over the rumours. “I had been receiving threats which family members could see, and that’s why I had made my account private."  "Please, I request you all to stop the rumours… I have sacrificed a lot to come to Mumbai, to work and achieve my goals. Please do not take my name further than this; I have nothing to do with any of it. Eventually, the truth will find its way.”

Gulnaaz, the other choreographer, also issued a statement saying that she had no involvement in Smriti Mandhana and Pala’s wedding.

After the postponement of the wedding, Smriti had removed all wedding-related posts from her social media, which fueled the rumours. Photographs and videos of Palash Muchhal with his previous girlfriend also began to circulate among netizens.

Meanwhile, Smriti and Palash have updated their Instagram bios to add a “nazar” emoji to ward off evil eye.
