The mega auction for WPL 2026 was successfully held on Thursday (November 27) with all five franchises making some interesting choices during the event. Each team had to fill their squad with a minimum of 15 players and maximum of 18 players.
Deepti Sharma became the most expensive buy of the auctions when she got RTMed for Rs 3.20 crore by UP Warriorz who arguably had the best auctions. The franchise made a few more big signings in Deandra Dottin, Meg Lanning, Sophie Ecclestone and Phoebe Litchfield while Kiran Navgire, Harleen Deol and Asha Sobhana fuelled the domestic core.
Delhi Capitals retained a large score of their players and then proceeded to make some value additions in the form of Chinelle Henry, Sneh Rana, Lizelle Lee and Sree Charani. Mumbai Indians quietly got their winning core in totality by getting back Shabnim Ismail and Amelia Kerr.
RCB and GG had quieter auctions, and neither had a well-rounded auction, although the defending champions already had a near-complete squad with only minor gaps. Both franchises picked up steam towards the back end and made good use of the accelerated auctions to make some smart buys.
