World Cup-winner Smriti Mandhana suffered another bout of bad news on Monday (November 24) as her fiancee and filmmaker-musician Palash Muchhal got hospitalised temporarily due to viral fever. Fortunately for the couple, Muchhal was released after a few hours and is now back at the hotel.
Muchhal's health had deteriorated considerably due to the fever, forcing his team to take the decision of hospitalisation. However, after prompt medication, the 30-year-old responded to the treatment briskly. He has, however, been advised rest to complete the process of recovery.
Meanwhile, Smriti's father Srinivas is reportedly stable and is said to recovering steadily. If the progress is considered satisfactory, there is an outside chance of being discharged today itself. Further updates are awaited on his medical condition. However, the alarming heart attack symptoms that shot up on Sunday evening, have reportedly waned away. There are concerns over Srinivas' blood sugar levels though.
"At around 1.30 pm, Mr Srinivas Mandhana got left-sided chest pain, we call it 'angina' in medical terms. As the symptoms surfaced, his son called me, we sent an ambulance, he was shifted to hospital. We found out in ECG, other reports, that cardiac enzymes are elevated, hence we need to keep him in observation," said the family doctor Dr Naman Shah in a chat with PTI.
"Blood pressure is also elevated, efforts are on to lower it. The whole team is monitoring. If situation exacerbates, we will have to do angiography. Smriti and her family are in contact with us."

Sunday (November 23) was the chosen date for Smriti's wedding with Muchhal and the festivities began few days earlier with most members of the Indian Women's cricket team attending the function. Apart from all the traditional customs of a North-Indian wedding, there was also a cricket match held between Smriti's girls and Muchhal's gang.
However, the marriage had to be halted due to Srinivas' drastic health deterioration and currently, there is no info on the new marriage date. An official statement on this is expected from the Mandhana family once Srinivas is discharged.
