Antoine Semenyo is being considered by Liverpool along with Michael Olise for the post-Mohammed Salah era, earlier reports had said. Now, a fresh story claims that Ghanaian Semenyo may play alongside the 'Egyptian King' for the remainder of the season after he has told Bournemouth of his readiness to make a switch to Anfield in January.

25-year-old Semenyo telling his club of his intentions of a mid-season switch cannot be confirmed by THE WEEK independently, but a popular football news outlet reported that Liverpool have reasons to believe that they stand a realistic chance to land their target in the winter transfer window. The England-born Ghana international had entered a new contract with Bournemouth in the summer and is set to get a £70 million (€79 million, $92 million)-worth bid from the defending Premier League champions.

Ghana have not qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to take place from December 21 — meaning Semenyo will be available at the club's service. The in-form winger has so far managed six goals and three assists from eleven outings so far. These two factors would empower Liverpool to go all in for him if they get a hint that he is willing to make the switch in January. Liverpool are not at their best this season, despite a British record-shattering summer signing which witnessed the arrival of multiple heavyweights to Anfield, including Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, who are both yet to live up to expectations.

TeamTalk website, which broke the news of Semenyo willing to join the champions in January, added that, "There is no release clause in his deal, which Bournemouth are keeping a closely guarded secret; there is also no certainty that it would become active in the winter window." The Cherries will not want their main man to leave midway either as they are well in the race for a European spot. Though ninth in the table, they are at par with fifth-placed Spurs and only one adrift fourth-placed Sunderland, who are expected to struggle after losing as many as eight of their squad to AFCON.
