With two days to go for the IPL trade window deadline, franchises are scrambling for last-minute closures to deals. Even as the wait continues for the potentially historic trade deal between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals regarding the Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson swap, Mumbai Indians have made a couple of value trades.

Shardul Thakur, who is the captain and heartbeat of Mumbai's domestic side, is set to represent Mumbai Indians after the franchise successfully completed the trade with Lucknow Super Giants. Talks were ongoing since the start of the week and finally, the deal has been closed at Thakur's base price of Rs 2 crore.

Meanwhile, Sherfane Rutherford is the other efficient addition to the MI roster after the West Indian was successfully traded in from the Gujarat Titans. The left-hander, known for his dynamic hitting, has been taken at his previous auction price of Rs 2.60 crore. The deals of Rutherford and Thakur are both one-way cash deals.

Earlier in the week, Cricbuzz has reported that Thakur could be traded to MI who were expected to give away Arjun Tendulkar. However, there was no clarity on whether it would be a swap deal or mutually independent events. There isn't any update on Tendulkar's future but the youngster is expected to be released by MI.
