More than three years after he left Everton to join Tottenham, Brazilian forward Richarlison could rejoin them in the January transfer window, reports suggest. What makes the rumour more interesting is the part where it claims that the Toffees opted for their former player over Ivan Toney, who is currently in Saudi.

It is Everton’s former chief Keith Wynes who believes that Richarlison stands a better chance of joining Everton than former Brentford striker Toney, a report said. He is believed to have said during a sports podcast that Richarlison is the "current frontrunner to fill Everton’s striker void."
Why Richarlison over Ivan Toney?
Gaffer David Moyes is likely to back the 28-year-old Brazilian in the light of the fact that he is desperate to make the most of his opportunities with the FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Football Insider said in a report. "I think Richarlison would be a safer bet and I’m hearing he’s ahead in the list at the moment.... Plus he knows Everton well, he’s well received by the fans. That to me would be an easier fit than Toney, who can be somewhat moody, and coming from Saudi is not necessarily the right preparation," Wynes reportedly told the show.
During his time at Everton, he made around 152 appearances, scoring 53 goals and providing 15 assists, while he made 90 matches for the London side, scoring 20 goals and assisting 10 times.
Ivan Toney was linked to Everton ever since the struggles of their striker Beto and Thierno Barry became evident. They are currently fourteenth in the Premier League with three wins, three draws, and four defeats. 29-year-old English international Ivan Toney completed his move to Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League (RSL) from Brentford in August 2024. The reported transfer fee was £40 million.
