Manchester United have set their sights on the FC Porto midfielder but may face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham in his pursuit, fresh reports suggest. It is Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt who is said to have impressed the Premier League giants within a year of arriving from FC Copenhagen.
Victor Froholdt, born in 2006, can also operate on the wing if needed, but Manchester United are interested because of his ability to play in central midfield.

When Porto managed to bring the right-footed Froholdt to Portugal, it was the most expensive sale in Copenhagen's history, and the club still holds a 10% stake on any future transfer fee. The Danish teenager is known for breaking opposition lines, winning duels, and organising play in the middle of the park.
Victor Froholdt: A stunning youth profile
Froholdt scored 11 times in the U17 league for Copenhagen before being promoted to the U19 team. He continued to impress there too before he featured in five matches in the UEFA Youth League. "He is goal-oriented and ambitious, and already took the step from the U17 to the U19 team in the autumn. And within the coming years, we will together lift him to the next step, so that he can hopefully make the journey all the way up to the first team," the club's development director Sune Smith-Nielsen had observed in 2023.
He spent seven years with the club, playing 62 times for the senior team and scoring eight times. Ahead of his switch to Porto, Froholdt was an integral part of the Danish side with a Champions League away start against Manchester City being the highlight. He joined the club's academy as a 12-year-old from Vallensbæk IF.
Will Porto sell Victor Froholdt?
Since his arrival, Froholdt has played ten games for Francesco Farioli's team, managing a goal and two assists. According to reports, there are realistic chances for the Red Devils to present Porto with an official offer ahead of the winter transfer window's opening in light of ever-increasing competition. However, FC Porto will be hesitant to sell the midfielder, whom they wish to keep for the years to come.
The current contract keeps Froholdt at Porto until 2030 and has a buyout clause of around €85 million. Signing Carlos Baleba could be a costlier affair for United, who may decide to settle for the Nordic youngster if further roadblocks are experienced in the quest to sign the Cameroonian. Bryan Mbeumo, who is Baleba's international teammate, is also reportedly trying to convince the Brighton star to make a switch to Manchester.
